It's Wednesday! Time for our weekly book chat. Today's guest is author Tianna Holley. Welcome, Tianna! What can I get you to drink?

TIANNA: I'm a hot tea addict and drink it straight.

Ally: Coming right up. While I fix our drinks, tell us something about yourself and include something you don't usually put in your bio.

Tianna Holley lives outside Atlanta with her husband and children and has always been an avid reader of fantasy. She began writing poetry and short stories in her youth but did not pursue her passion for writing until later in life.

Although her writing tends to include romance and violence, she considers herself a PG-13 author. Her novels do not contain curse words, and her sexual content is limited to passionate kissing. She enjoys talking to her readers and offers free Skype chats to book clubs.

When she's not working, she can usually be found in her organic garden or in her kitchen baking with healthy and natural ingredients.

Now let's see, something unique:  I spend a lot of time and money on organic gardening, yet I fail every year. This year was a war with bunnies and bugs, and I lost. They won. It's a bit distressing, yet I am highly determined to win this garden battle--no matter how crazy it drives me!

Ally:  Every writer's journey to publication is a little different. Would you tell us about yours?

TIANNA:  Although I wrote poetry during my teenage years as a way to express my emotions, I eventually stopped writing. A few years ago my family had a lot to deal with, and once again, I found myself filled with many emotions I could not express. One day I woke up with Alissia’s story in my head, and it wouldn’t leave me alone. In fact, I started typing Unexpected Metamorphosis while at a women’s retreat in the mountains. I was there to meet and have fun with other women, but I was too distracted by Alissia’s story. It was rather frustrating at the time, and I had no choice but to sit down at my laptop and start typing—not for publication, but for myself. However, my friend and I soon realized that it was an amazing story, which was a complete surprise to me.

I am very blessed to live near Jera Publishing, and after some classes and a lot of help from Kimberly over there, I learned how the publishing industry worked. They took care of all the editing, formatting, and designing, and after a lot of hard work, I was soon holding my first novel in my hands.

When I started writing, I was a homeschooling mother. My children now go to school outside of the home, and I write full time. Now I can’t imagine my life without writing. It’s a strong part of who I am, and it still amazes me how none of it was planned. It just happened.

Ally:  What kind of book launches do you do? Blog tours, twitter parties, FB releases, something else?

TIANNA:  With the release of Unexpected Metamorphosis, I immediately went to a conference in Las Vegas and did a book signing. I also had a book release party and other book signings around Alissia’s hometown in South Georgia. At that time, I was still learning a lot about social media, but I did some interviews, guest posts, and book spotlights on various blogs. Unexpected Entrapment just came out about a month ago, and I’ve done some book signings and a lot more social media. I immediately set the price of Unexpected Metamorphosis to free on Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and iBooks. However, I haven’t been able to go below 99 cents on Amazon. I’ve decided to join Amazon’s KDP Select program, and hopefully, by the time this post comes out, Unexpected Metamorphosis will be free on Amazon. That should pull in more reviews and get the series noticed more. I haven’t focused on Twitter or FB parties. Instead, I set up Pinterest boards for each of the novels and have been doing giveaways through my newsletter, FB, and Goodreads. I’ve also started a Guiltless/Clean Reads board (along with one for teens) on Pinterest and have been focused on getting a list of clean authors together for future blog hops, tours, and sales.

Ally:  You mentioned that you are a member of Clean Indie Reads. Although the name is somewhat explanatory, could you give our readers an idea of what they can expect from that label?

TIANNA:  The expectations are none to mild cursing and no explicit sexual content. It also means no heavy descriptive violence. I like to think of it as a PG-13 movie rating. Some of the novels deal with tough subjects such as murder, abuse, rape, and addictions, but the writers agree to handle those topics in a delicate manner—try not to make the reader visualize graphic content.

Ally:   Can you tell us about your current WIP ?

TIANNA:  Right now I’m working on Unexpected Peril, the third book in the Alissia Roswell Series. In Unexpected Metamorphosis, Alissia was thrown into an alternate reality, and since she had a very abusive childhood, she has a hard time when it comes to trust. Many dangers and mysteries in her new surroundings force her to rely upon others, and there is a great emotional struggle, along with new physical changes her body endures.

Each book in the series has a different theme, and with this third novel, I will be bringing in more creatures. It starts off at a fast pace, and as the title implies, there will be many unexpected dangers.

Ally: Quick answer questions:

  • pantser or plotter – Panster all the way. I’ve always hated outlines.
  • car you drive vs car you'd like to drive – Happy with my SUV.
  • what one characteristic can turn a male character into a reader's book boyfriend? He’s got to be able to handle a strong woman’s personality.
  • an item on your bucket list – Long visit to Scotland.
  • Do you believe in love at first sight? Ugh! No! I just can’t relate—at all.

Ally: A pleasure to have you, Tianna. I believe you brought two books for our readers to see...

Unexpected Metamorphosis Blurb:

Alissia Roswell had worked hard to overcome her past, and she took immense pride in her independence. Just when she thought she was truly satisfied with her life, she wakes up to find herself in another reality. As she searches for answers, her body begins to change in mysterious ways, and for the first time in her life, she is forced to rely upon others. As everything spins out of her control and danger lurks around every corner, her heart begins to betray her, and her mind haunts her with memories of her past.

Join Alissia on her perilous quest full of adventure, magic, and romance as she travels the challenging road of finding one self, maybe even love along the way. Unexpected Metamorphosis (Alissia Roswell Book 1) eBook: Tianna Holley: Kindle Store

Unexpected Entrapment Blurb:

Alissia Roswell is far, far from home, and she won't be going back any time soon. After having been sucked through a wormhole, spat out half-dead in an alternate reality, and revived by Lamians-an ancient, magical people who trigger a profound metamorphosis in Alissia, giving her powers she never thought possible-Alissia becomes the subject of Alrik Durst's manipulation. Alrik has already usurped power in the city of Pallen, and with Alissia's arrival, he sees his opportunity to exploit the power of the Lamians to his bidding as well, driving the land ever closer to civil war. Held prisoner in the luxurious confines of the Eldership castle in Pallen, Alissia is forced to feign memory loss to protect herself and her friends while fending off the romantic overtures of Ian Durst-Alrik's all-too-charming son.
Will the loves of her life, Grady Bolair and Luke Harrison, be able to help her escape? When she finally chooses between the two--Grady, the statesman, or Luke, the assassin--will it rip her alliances to shreds, casting uncertainty on her future?
Join Alissia as she learns to reign in her fiery personality, tries to accept her past, and struggles with the one thing that scares her most: vulnerability.

Have a great week! Thank you for having coffee with us!
